BETTER HEALTH....one step at a time

Frequently as one travels through life toward goals, it seems as though the road is so bumpy we are getting there very, very, very slowly. There seem to be numerous large bumps in the road which need to be navigated.

These bumps can manifest themselves as medical diagnosises. For me personally, after years of being "just a little overweight" and gaining 1 to 2 pounds per year, I gained myself several diagnosises.....Fatty Liver, Hypertension, and Type 2 Diabetes. WHAT??? I looked at the scale and I was 40 pounds over weight and proceeded to gain 20 more pounds as the medications were introduced and my body balanced out.  I'm not even 60 years old and I rarely overeat. I asked myself "what is happening?" This was surely a wakeup call for me to face the changes that needed to be made in my life in order for me to be around to enjoy my family and friends and to reach my goals.

I started by recognizing things in my life that added stress and were not necessary. Since some things in our lives cannot be eliminated, I started learning and applying tools to help me deal with the stress of these items effectively. I recognized my need to eat multiple times a day instead of the once maybe twice a day which was my habit at the time.

Over the next 10 months I lost 20 pounds with a 2.75% fat loss. I was feeling pretty good and yet wanted more as I would love to have more energy for daily life. Additionally, I would love to take less medication. 

About this time some family members who had struggled with their weight for years discovered a program which helped them lose many, many pounds. They were looking incredible and feeling so full of life! I was very interested as I wanted to make more progress and I was struggling with what I would call "planning/preparation fatigue". I knew I needed to eat more frequently throughout the day but the process of planning those small meals, purchasing, and preparing them was overwhelming. I started the program and have managed 2 to 3 pound with 1/2% fat loses on a weekly basis which is quickly propelling me toward my weight loss goal.
